A Christmas for Everyone

Amy from Open Table Liverpool and Open Table Warrington has written this beautiful poem called A Christmas for Everyone

Christmas is for everyone whether you are young or old in feeling that fuzzy glow that you know,

With the festivities in full flow, maybe it's just not so,

When there are those who can't afford to heat their homes, having to choose between heating or eating, never mind all the traditional trimmings they say we should be feasting,

Many are homeless and out in the cold not even a stable to call home,
war torn fleeing from their countries, trying to find a place of safety where they can, migrating over sea and land,

Or those that feel lost and alone, without their dear family member or close friend around for this December,

Maybe not so present when opening the presents for their yuletide is gay but not in this abode,

Even then there are those who aren't comfortable in their gendered clothes, dreading their pronouns when passing the profiteroles,

There will be many excluded from places of religious faith and their family's for being who they truly are,

Give a thought, give a prayer in care, for those that might be in despair,

Christmas should be for everyone regardless of gender, race, sexuality, age, or background, for the love of God came down to save, wrapped up in a bed of hay, in that bundle was Jesus his son, who came to save everyone, such a wonderful present within this seasonal name,

A Christmas might not be for all but Christ came for all and his love for us is ever more.
