Lynn McAllister, who in 2017 took part in the Just Walk to Jerusalem, introduces what it means for St Bride's to be a Sabeel-Kairos Community:

In 2009 Palestinian Christians published their Kairos Document 'A Moment of Truth'  describing it as

A cry of hope in the absence of all hope, a cry full of prayer and faith in a God ever vigilant, in God’s divine providence for all the inhabitants of this land.

In the document they ask the following question of the worldwide church:

Are you able to help us get our freedom back, for this is the only way you can help the two peoples attain justice, peace, security and love?

Sabeel-Kairos is a Christian response in the UK to that challenge. Sabeel-Kairos is committed to supporting peace through justice in the Holy Land through issuing a weekly 'Wave of Prayer' for peace in Israel/Palestine, challenging the misuse of theology to oppress, raising awareness of the situation, promoting the respect for human rights, and advocating for non-violent resistance including Morally Responsible Investment and Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions.

As a Sabeel-Kairos community, St Bride’s participates in that work and we have a number of events and activities planned for around Advent which, as the link person between St Bride’s and Sabeel-Kairos, I will be advertising shortly.
