Short-term accommodation for asylum seekers and refugees

Asylum Link Merseyside is based on Overbury Street Liverpool 7, about 10 minutes walk from St. Brides. ALM aims to help asylum seekers and refugees in as many ways as possible. For many years it has had a list of providers of short-term accommodation. The hope now is to expand the list so that people's needs can be met more effectively. The more people who offer short-term accommodation, the better it works for everyone.

Welcoming an asylum seeker to your home can be a fascinating and rewarding experience, and you do get support should any problems arise. The time commitment can be whatever you want. Asylum seekers often have a desperate need for accommodation if their case has concluded unsuccessfully but returning to their country of origin isn't working (for whatever reason). Sometimes there is also a need for asylum seekers with live cases and even for refugees. These groups should be getting housing but there can be glitches. It hardly needs saying that Winter is not a good time to be on the streets
