Meet our new Student Chaplaincy Assistant Lilly Nelson
Lilly Nelson introduces herself as Student Chaplain at St Bride’s.
Hello! My name is Lilly and I am going to be working for St Bride’s as part of the Multi-faith Chaplaincy between John Moore’s University and University of Liverpool.
I’m part of a team to assist in pastoral and spiritual support for students on campus, and have a particular role in encouraging attendance for the various events here at St Bride’s.
Graduating in Theology, Philosophy and Ethics in 2018, I was always very keen to look at the practical and progressive side of theology as a form of overall well-being and the social justice side of what it means to be a Christian. I have been working as Chaplaincy Assistant at Liverpool Hope University since 2018, planting a Chaplaincy presence at their Creative Campus, and I am excited to build on my skills with working at St Bride’s!
I am proudly part of the Open Table community (Safe Sacred Space for LGBT+ Christians) based in Sefton. Open Table has played a big part in reconciling my own spiritual journey and my coming out, so I particularly want to reach students from the LGBT+ community within this role.
Previous to this role, I have been part of the pastoral support team for NHS Merseycare’s various psychiatric and rehabilitation facilities, as well as being part of the pastoral and well-being team at Download Festival - the biggest heavy metal music festival in Europe.
