St Bride’s will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster with a time of quiet reflection and prayer in memory of the 96 who died.
Although the City of Liverpool has cancelled its planned event for the anniversary, the Anglican Cathedral has a simple memorial service in the afternoon, including a minute’s silence at the time of the tragedy.
For those that cannot make the afternoon service at the cathedral, St Bride’s is hosting a simple vigil to give people a chance to continue to remember the victims of Hillsborough and pray for the families and all those affected.
Lay Worship Leader Rose Green explains: 'We wanted to mark the 30th anniversary of the disaster but are conscious of the sensitivities around the ongoing prosecutions. We therefore felt that a prayer vigil would be the most appropriate way forward.'
