What is a Community Conversations?

Community Conversations are open forums for community members to attend. The original events (held from 2015 to 2017) informed the development of L8BP. The forums will continue to be a mechanism for residents to hear about our work and keep us up to date on any improvements needed in their areas. We will focus first on the most marginalised groups so that their voices will be heard, before holding bigger events for everyone. Our aim is for the community to be involved throughout so that L8BP is relevant and accountable.

Community activists

We will:

  • find out who wants to make a difference in their neighbourhood

  • train and support them so that they have the confidence and skills to act and bring about change in their area

  • support them in organising and engaging with the community on matters that are important to them

  • link them into key service providers and council members to help them do this.

The main outcome of this will be the creation of a pool of trained community activists/volunteers as a resource for L8, with the old guard passing the baton onto the next generation.
