Liverpool Festival of Spirituality 2016


WAKE UP in LIVERPOOL

In April 2016, in conjunction with St Bride's ChurchMake Space and  Infinite Arts we are holding our first Liverpool Festival of Spirituality.

The festival combines a number of events that are held regularly in Liverpool with some special events including some featuring visiting speakers and seminar leaders.  These include:

Francis Bennett

Francis Bennett is a former Trappist Monk who had a profound awakening experience and has become an internationally known spiritual teacher. His teaching draws on his experience of the Christian mystical and contemplative traditions but also Buddhism and eastern non-dual spirituality. he has a message and a presence that is valuable to Christians, people who are spiritual but not religious, agnostics and those from a variety of religious traditions.

Ray Simpson

Ray Simpson is an inspiring proponent of contemporary Celtic Christianity and its relevance today. Ray is the Founding Guardian of the international Community of Aidan and Hilda and its principal tutor and liturgist. He has been an urban parish priest and is author of over thirty books on spirituality. Ray lives on the island of Lindisfarne where the Community facilitates a new emergence of Christian Celtic spirituality, one which is able to renew and refresh established churches or help give rise to fresh expressions of church community. He has a particular interest in urban spirituality and will explore this in Liverpool..

Gillian Ahlgren

Gillian Ahlgren  is director of the Institute for Spirituality & Social Justice at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. She is an internationally recognised teacher and scholar of the Christian mystical tradition specialising in the relevance of the Christian Mystics to a spirituality that engages with contemporary issues of social justice. She is an experienced spiritual director and practitioner of contemplative prayer. She is a popular public speaker and writer and we are delighted to have her as part of the ‘WAKE UP in Liverpool’ festival 2016.
