Back to the 1930's

A great meeting yesterday with folk from Liverpool Cathedral. We’re looking at the feasibility of a joint Food Bank project. Going through our archives, we were distributing free food to those in need on a regular basis between the 1830’s and mid 1930’s, and now here we are on the brink of 2013, contemplating a food bank. It is right to do it. But it is also right to say this is a tragedy. With the ‘Bedroom Tax’ and other welfare changes impacting the poorest, planned for the next year, the situation can only get worse. Hunger in the world’s seventh richest country is a scandal.
