Shiatsu at St Bride's

At St Bride's, an important part of our work is the exploration of  connections between the worlds of Christianity and what have been called "new age" spiritualities and practices. Rachel is a member of St Bride's and a Shiatsu Practitioner. She is currently offering monthly Saturday sessions.

Rachel writes "Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork. Through working with the body's energy or ‘Ki', Shiatsu aims to restore the natural balance and flow of this energy, bringing about deep relaxation, easing tension and stiffness, releasing physical and emotional blockages and improving general health and well being.

For me, Shiatsu is more than just a physical therapy. It is also a spiritual practice, much like Yoga, tai-chi and meditation.  Shiatsu touch involves meeting the whole person, in health and illness, in pain and joy. Working with the body in this way the receiver can begin to get to know, understand and address their own needs on a physical and emotional level.

By learning to listen to the body and respond to what the body is saying, we can start to make real changes and improve our health and wellbeing.  This may include lifestyle changes or attending to our emotional needs"
