OPEN TABLE Liverpool is delighted to welcome the Bishop of Liverpool, Right Reverend Dr John Perumbalath, to lead and preach at a special celebration of Communion this month.
Bishop John has oversight of the Church of England in the diocese which covers Merseyside north of the River Mersey, south-west Lancashire, western Greater Manchester, and part of northern Cheshire.
Bishop John comes from the ancient Christian community in Kerala, South India and was ordained into the Church of North India in 1994. He moved to the UK in 2001 taking up positions in the Diocese of Rochester. Bishop John then served as Archdeacon of Barking before becoming the Bishop of Bradwell in the Diocese of Chelmsford in 2018. He became Bishop of Liverpool in April 2023.
