As we all start from a position of our own worldview, from the background of our own experience. We all have a wide range of individual preferences and peculiarities. We also usually view the world from a position somewhere between the extremes of optimism and pessimism.

The world has not changed when two people see it differently only perceptions, and they are changing all the time, mostly for the better as we are developing as people, we get an education we gain knowledge of our world from our experiences of relationships. We communicate with a large range of people, we make decisions about the people we like and don’t, things we like and don’t.

There are many types of paintings and pictures we like some and not others, usually based on the subject that is depicted, maybe a colour we like, some pictures have a narrative and tell a story we know and like, this can be comforting.

My paintings are not always what they appear to be, I like puzzles, I also like to leave space for the viewer to make their contribution to the painting. All viewers see all painting this way even if the artist didn’t intend this to happen. I still have something to say but I prefer dialog to dictation, so I leave even more ambiguities, as I find this can be more inclusive, I wish to try to share the work with you and your background and knowledge.

When we share we are much more likely to find empathy, we may not always know why, this is not important, feeling is much more likely than thinking to reflect us all in a better light, and painting is only ever about light.
