Introducing our new curate - Louis Johnson
We’re delighted to announce that in September 2020 Louis James Johnson will be joining the team parish of St Luke in the City as curate.
Born, raised and schooled in Liverpool, Louis read Music at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, received his MMus and PhD in Music (Composition) from the University of Liverpool, and taught in the music departments at Liverpool Hope University, and the universities of Liverpool, Cardiff and Bristol, before undertaking training for ordained ministry at St Mellitus College, North West.
Louis is excited about continuing his journey of training and formation as assistant curate with the Team Parish of St Luke in the City. Louis says:
“I’m really looking forward to working with the Revd Dr Miranda Threlfall-Holmes and the other clergy and laity involved in the ministry of the St Luke in the City team, and I can’t wait to get to know more about the communities at and around the churches of St Bride’s, St Dunstan’s, and St Michael in the City. It will be a privilege to serve, and become part of, such a creative, diverse and inspirational group of Christian communities, participating with them in the work of God’s mission to the people and places that make up the wider community of the parish and the city of Liverpool.”
Louis is already familiar to some of us as he has over the past few years been a regular volunteer at the Micah Foodbank hosted in St Bride’s, and is a member of the leadership team of A Taste of God, our new midweek congregation at St Michael in the City. He has just entered his final year of ordination training which continues until his ordination next summer, and he will begin work in the parish in September 2020.
