Mindfulness at St Bride’s: 8 week course

This course follows the pattern of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programme as introduced by Jon Kabat Zinn and his colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre. The course consists of eight weekly sessions of 2 hours duration and one whole silent day of guided and structured mindfulness meditation practice. The first part of the programme puts emphasis on developing the skills of being present with internal experiences such as body sensations, thoughts, emotions and feelings.

We have four (straight) weddings booked for St Bride’s next year. Each couple has mentioned that St Bride’s LBGT inclusive stance was an important factor in their choice of Church. From where we are, it doesn’t look as if straight marriage would be undermined by gay marriage. Quite the reverse, in fact.

We gather at St Bride's on Wednesday at 10.15am to say farewell to our dear Sister in Christ Margaret Kenny, a lifelong member of our Church, who has died suddenly. Our prayers and sympathy are with all her family, friends and neighbours.

Short-term accommodation for asylum seekers and refugees

Asylum Link Merseyside is based on Overbury Street Liverpool 7, about 10 minutes walk from St. Brides. ALM aims to help asylum seekers and refugees in as many ways as possible. For many years it has had a list of providers of short-term accommodation. The hope now is to expand the list so that people's needs can be met more effectively. The more people who offer short-term accommodation, the better it works for everyone.
