Meet our new Team Rector

The PCC of St Luke In The City Team Parish is delighted to announce the name of our new Team Rector – the Revd Dr Miranda Threlfall-Holmes.

Miranda is currently Area Dean of Durham, and vicar of two parishes there. She is also a writer and historian, and a Greenbelt speaker.

She blogs at and you can follow her on Twitter: @mirandatholmes

Miranda's family includes husband Phil, who is a freelance chemical engineer, and their three children, Noah (15), Tobias (11) and Zoe (7).

Miranda says:

'I am delighted to have been appointed to the St Luke in the City team and look forward very much to getting to know you all and to discovering the future together. Phil and I have loved what we've seen so far of the diversity, energy and good humour of the parish! We will be moving to Liverpool in the summer, once Noah's GCSEs are completed. Please do pray for us all in this time of transition!'

Archdeacon Ricky says:

'This was always going to be an interesting appointment. Guy Elsmore left at a time when lots of good things were happening and we were hopeful for some strong candidates to take up his role. Miranda was an outstanding candidate and we were unanimous in believing that she is exactly the right person to be taking forward the work of God’s mission at St Luke’s.  She brings an amazing array of gifts and experience as well as enthusiasm and a real sense of call.

'Because of children’s’ schooling, the appointment will have to wait until the summer, but I know you will all give the Threlfall-Holmes a proper welcome when they arrive, and my thanks to all those keeping things going and growing in the meantime.'

SAVE THE DATE: Bishop Paul will conduct the Service of Induction on Thursday 10th August at 7.30pm at St Dunstan's, Earle Road.

St Bride's is part of the St Luke in the City Team Parish. This post became vacant in July 2016 when our former Rector, Guy Elsmore, left to become Archdeacon of Buckingham in the Diocese of Oxford.
