The tenderness of God: Community practices to reclaim our humanity

The measure of our spirituality is our tenderness.
— Jean Vanier

But what does tenderness mean in a world of inequality, injustice, and violence?

What can we learn about 'acting justly, loving tenderly and walking humbly with our God' from key figures like Francis and Clare of Assisi?

And how will we today live out a Christian commitment to compassion that requires communal accountability to human dignity?

A workshop with theologian and author Gillian Ahlgren, Professor of Theology and Founding Director of the Institute for Spirituality and Social Justice at Xavier University,
Cincinnati.

She is the author of six books, most recently The Tenderness of God: Reclaiming Our Humanity (Fortress Press). Copies of this book will be available to buy at the event.

A church historian with decades of experience teaching theology, Dr. Ahlgren focuses on articulating theological principles and spiritual practices that support personal and communal transformation.
